Dr. Joerg Jaschinski

Specialization: Family Medicine, Addictions

Dr. Joerg Jaschinski was born and raised in South Africa. He graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School in 1998. He has worked at hospitals in South Africa, on the most remote inhabited island in the world, Tristan da Cunha, and in the UK. He came to Canada in 2007 where he worked at the Sechelt Medical Clinic until starting his own clinic, Cowrie Medical Clinic, in 2015. He and his wife have raised three children, and are proud to be Canadians now and to live on the Sunshine Coast.

Dr. Paul Dhillon

Dr. Paul Dhillon is Co-Founder of The Review Course in Family Medicine and a Family Medicine/ER Physician in British Columbia. He has been recognized on multiple occasions by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Canadian Medical Association for his leadership and educational endeavors. A passionate educator he teaches across the country and is the author of multiple books. Most recently, The Surprising Lives of Small Town Doctors was published by the University of Regina Press, a book that chronicles the exciting stories of small town doctors across Canada. Outside of his civilian career, he is a Reservist Medical Officer and Captain with 12 Field Ambulance, Canadian Armed Forces, in Vancouver BC and served as Senior Medical Authority for domestic Arctic exercises. After completing his medical studies at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland he completed a Master's in Disaster Medicine and studied at the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, completing their diploma course before serving as an Ebola Doctor in Sierra Leone during the last Ebola epidemic. He currently enjoys playing soccer with the Canadian Men's Medical Soccer team and raising his son, Darragh with his Irish wife on the west coast of Canada.

Dr. Chinmay Dalal

Dr. Chinmay Dalal first came to the Coast in 2012 and absolutely fell in love with it. He was born in Ontario but grew up in Coquitlam and Vancouver in the lower mainland. In 2016 he moved here after finishing his training at UBC and St Paul's Hospital in Family Medicine and joined the Cowrie Medical Clinic to open his practice and started at the Sechelt Hospital Emergency Department. Recently married, he is settling down and enjoying the Coast lifestyle, playing volleyball during the week and hiking on the weekend. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Sunshine Coast Divisions of Family Medicine and also organizes the Continuing Medical Educational events for all the physicians in the community as well as being an Assistant Clinical Professor and teaching at clinic and hospital.

Dr. Carmen Goojha

Specialization: Palliative Care and MAID

I grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan. I completed medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in Dublin. I went on to complete Family Medicine Residency at Brown University in Rhode Island, USA. I also completed UBC's Enhanced Skills in Palliative Care training in December 2018.  I moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2016 as I loved its sheer beauty and wanted to be closer to my family in Vancouver.

Dr. Herman Mentz

Specialization: Marine and Aviation medicals

Dr. Herman Mentz graduated his primary medical degree at the University of Pretoria, South-Africa on 2006. He immigrated to Sechelt, BC in 2010. He obtained his Certification in Family medicine speciality in 2013. Dr. Mentz also does occupation health examinations including Aviation and Marine (Seafarers) medicals. Dr. Mentz did his Internship at 2 military hospital in Cape-Town 2007-2008. He worked for the South African Air Force and a level 1 trauma hospital in Cape-Town for 2 years before moving to Sechelt, Canada. His hobbies includes trail running. scuba diving,  travelling and hiking. 


 
 

Dr. Ali Sarabi Jamab (Dr. Sarabi)

Dr. Sarabi completed his medical training at the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Iran. He then served in the military for 1.5 years and worked as emergency room doctor for one year. After moving to Canada, he completed his postgraduate training in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia - St. Paul’s Hospital. He also speaks Farsi/Persian, and French. He enjoys running, playing Setar, and reading.


Dr. Edward (Ted) Krickan

Specialization: Office surgical procedures, Maternity

Dr. Ted Krickan grew up in Victoria, B.C., where he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria. He traveled to Ireland, spending four years in Cork City studying medicine. The travels continued when he moved to Northern Canada for Rural Family Medicine training in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. After two years of residency he hadn’t had enough, so Dr. Krickan stayed on and did Enhanced Surgical Skills training through the University of Saskatchewan. Prior to moving to the Coast, Dr. Krickan practiced as a Rural Family Physician, Obstetrician, and Surgeon in Estevan: the Energy City, a small town in the south-east corner of Saskatchewan. In his spare time, Dr. Krickan enjoys time with his wife and 2 young kids, as they endeavor to hike, bike, and kayak the length of the Coast.

Dr. Douglas Black

Doug gained his medical degree in Dundee, Scotland before emigrating to Canada in 1981, where he completed his first four years Residency in Ob/Gyn in Ottawa. He worked as a consultant following this, for 29 years in TOH, a tertiary university hospital as Department Head, and University Chair at various times. He ran a large Prenatal and U/S clinic, delivering over 350 babies each year. In 2014 he moved with his wife to the Middle East, helping to setup a new women and children’s hospital in Doha. Now he is happy to have returned to Canada, and work on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. He brings a wealth of experience in Obstetrics, Ultrasound, minimally invasive surgery, office gynecology procedures and administration. They have three adult children, and enjoys golf, walking, boating, and travelling.

Dr. Sanam Javidanbardan (Dr. Javid)

Dr. Sanam Javidanbardan (Dr. Javid) completed her medical training at the Tehran University of Medical sciences, Iran. She then served patients in rural areas for 3 years. 

After moving to Canada, she completed her postgraduate training in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia – St. Paul’s hospital.

She also speaks Farsi/Persian and Turkish. She enjoys running, hiking and spending time in nature.


 
 

Dr. Kevin Koopman

Dr. Koopman grew up in BC and completed his medical school and residency at UBC. After finishing his residency on the Sunshine Coast he decided to call Sechelt and Cowrie Medical Clinic home. He has a special interest in complex, multi-system diseases.
